Zippered Pouches and Agendas--Please make sure to check the zippered pouch each day and sign the agenda.  All homework, office notes, etc. will be in the zippered pouch. Students should carry their zippered pouch back and forth to school each day.

Spelling Assessments--Spelling words will go home in the agenda each Monday with a Spelling Test each Friday.


WE SCARE HUNGER
Thank you all for sending in non-perishable food items for our Halloween "We Care" project.  We collected 200 food items!  We also collected 2,225 plastic grocery bags to be recycled.

MANITOBA THEATRE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Our class will be taking a field trip to the MTYP (at the Forks) on December 4 in the morning.  We will be seeing a play called "House at Pooh Corner".  We will need parent drivers/chaperones to help us out with this field trip.  Permission Forms are due next week.


CHRISTMAS SUPPER
Thank-you to all who attended the supper.  It was a very enjoyable evening!

REPORT CARDS and STUDENT LED CONFERENCES
Report cards will be going home this Friday with your child.  Please make sure to read the report card together at home.  Student Led Conferences are Nov. 27 & 28.  Your child will be bringing home the confirmation form of your appointment time with their report card.

Halloween Party--October 31, 2:00-3:15--Snacks-- Melodie, Mariela, Lily, Ejiro, Quinn
We will have a class party the afternoon of Halloween.  More information will be sent via email about the day.
Remember - The school is nut free and we have egg and fish allergies in the classroom.  Please email me and let me know if you are able to bring a beverage or a snack.

Artist in the School--We are excited in have Stan Lesk join us Oct. 22 - 26 as part of the Artist in Schools Residency program.

Zippered Pouches and Agendas--Each day we will write a sentence in our agenda at the end of the day to send home reminders or remind us what we learned during the day. Please make sure to check the zippered pouch each day and sign the agenda each day.  All homework, office notes, etc. will be in the zippered pouch. Students should carry their zippered pouch back and forth to school each day.

Home Reading--Our Home Reading Program has begun.  Each student should have received a Boston Pizza Coupon for the month of September.  Please bring the Home Reading Log to school on Monday to be checked and record reading at home during the week.  100 minutes/week is your Boston Pizza Kids Meal Coupon goal!!!  Happy Reading!!!

Class Parties--This year I have divided up the families in the class and assigned them one party for the whole year for them to be the SNACK/BEVERAGE PARENTS.  If your party day does not work for your family, you can trade with someone else or if you are unable to bring treats for that day, please let me know and I will make sure that there are enough snacks at the party.

Welcome Back!!!

We've had a great start to our year and I look forward to getting to know your children and learning with them each day.

Scholastic Book Orders--An order went home on Thursday.  This is completely voluntary.  Orders are due Friday.

Canteen Cards--Cards can be purchased from the office for $10.  The canteen will open on Sept. 17.

Rally Sunday--Please join us at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church for Rally Sunday and Installation of the school staff at 10:30 a.m. on September 16.  A BBQ will follow at the church.

Spelling--We will continue spelling until June 14, 2 more tests.

Spring Concert--Our Spring Concert will be on June 6 at 6:30 on the school South Playground.  Students should arrive at 5:45 for tuning and organizing.  

Read-A-Thon/Book Fair--The Book Fair runs from June 4--7 during lunch hours and before and after the Spring Concert.  We will celebrate READING on June 6 from 11:30-12:00 by reading as a whole school on the South Playground.

Home Reading Log (Orange Folder)--due each Monday to be checked and returned. 

MTYP--Goodnight Moon and the Run Away Bunny--Thank-you to our volunteers who were able to drive us to the play.

MTYP--The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe--We have been reading the novel in our classroom over the last month and have the last chapter to complete on Tuesday.  We have been talking about the comparison of Aslan to Jesus and the students have been very interested in the similarities of this novel to our Bible.

Spring Concert--Our Spring Concert will be on June 6 at 6:30 on the school South Playground.  Students should arrive at 5:45 for tuning and organizing.  

Read-A-Thon/Book Fair--Our Book Fair Preview Day will be June 1 for students to view and see if there are any books they would like to purchase.  The Book Fair runs from June 4--7 during lunch hours and a short time after school.  Pledge Envelopes are due May 30.  Students will receive ballots to win baskets and/or grand prizes based on their pledges.  We will celebrate READING on June 6 from 11:30-12:00 by reading as a whole school on the South Playground.
